Advanced Materials Workshop 2007

The Advanced Materials Workshop 2007 (AMW2007) was held on June 22-24 th in DICP. This was the third of the SINO-US Nano-materials workshop series following the first two which were held in Shanghai. This work covered a wider range of discussion topics compared to the previous two workshops. It invited 12 oversea scientists from US, Singapore , Hong Kong and Taiwan , and 20 scientists from mainland who are famous in the field of material science related to nano- and bio. There were 24 representatives presenting their recent research work, followed by active discussion relating to the synthesis and structure of nano-, semiconducting- and magnetic materials, as well as their applications in energy, life, health and information technology. The discussion emphasized the opportunities and challenges for Chinese scientists in China . In particular all scientists agreed that the exchange and collaboration between scientists in Mainland and overseas should be further strengthened.

The subjects of AMW2007 involved the frontiers of material science and the related fields, in particular the interdisciplinary research. The high level lectures and discussion attracted more than 170 young researchers from domestic universities and institutes.

The fourth Workshop will be held in Beijing in August 2008, and co-organized by Tsinghua University , Beijing University and Institute of Chemistry , CAS.
