Ultrathin Oxide Films on Metals: Relation to Catalysis
2017-06-14 15:30:00

Firitz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society

Abstract: Within the “surface science“ approach, thin metal oxide films are considered as well-defined models for elucidating the atomic structure and mechanism of chemical reactions at oxide surfaces and oxide/metal interfaces. Recently, ultrathin oxide films received considerable attention in their own rights as interesting catalytic materials, in particular in relation to so-called Strong Metal-Support Interaction effects and chemistry in confined space. The talk addresses several aspects of the preparation, structure, and properties of ultrathin films in relation to catalysis.
